Debt and Education Vouchers

Yet again, I spin a tweet into a blog as I said something off the top of my head that would yield continued discussion. I said:

The only Education Vouchers we'll receive from the Gov'ment are IOUs apologizing for the quality of our kid's public school system. (two posts of course.)

Interesting thought?

Even more interesting is the fact that we are building debt at a record pace, only to pass it along to future generations of Americans! WAIT.... if you are stuck in the "me" mentality, why care? Otherwise, you are probably wondering how that will be possible when we are reducing the funding available to school systems across the country. Think about it. Staff are being laid off, programs are being cut, it is ALL OVER THE NEWS.

So, fathom me this one batman, how will a future generation of less-educated youth going to hold the jobs or initiative to increase the GDP to a level where they can afford to pay off this (interest acquiring) debt.

Do you want to talk about a conundrum? Why is it that our country spends more money on every incarcerated criminal per year than every child attending a public school? I could go on and on about criminal spending, but I'll save that for another day, another blog.

Healthcare Providers, Your Choice

I greet this day with my latest post. I was truly inspired to write this as my last Tweet caused quite a stir among my Twitter followers. First, let me paraphrase:

“Is it wrong for me to select my new dentist by hanging up on the ones that accept MedicAid? Thoughts?”

Wow! Some of you people who actually read my Tweets must not have seen on every profile I’ve ever created that I’m a CONSERVATIVE. CONSERVATIVE does not mean that I go about chaining myself to trees, that I care if dolphins are in my tuna cans (okay, that one might bother me if I knew, but I’d try it first to see what it tastes like), or that I turn off my water between brushes of my teeth. CONSERVATIVE in this case applies to my political beliefs.
So before you follow me, at least know who you are following. I feel like Rush when the LIBERALS call into his show to prove how ignorant and under-educated they are. SUPERSTAR!

Now, I’ll take you back to my original question. I do not like the idea of my doctor/dentist/health care providers accepting MedicAid. Why… because it is MY TAX MONEY! If you want universal medical coverage, that’s great… but FIND SOMEONE ELSE TO PAY FOR IT. I’m so tired of handouts, so tired of people whining, so tired of footing the bill for government programs with huge overhead that does nothing but promote laziness, and ultimately TIRED of everyone calling me insensitive about it.

I could rant and rave all day long but look forward to you telling me your opinions. Comments are welcome!

What Next? Larry the Cable Guy as FCC Director?

Wow! What was I doing finishing college? All I needed to do was drop out of UCLA (which I didn't attend), play in a bunch of movies about smoking pot (marijuana, doobies, whatever your word of choice here), and get appointed to a Senior Executive role at the White House.

Okay, so here's the basics: http://www.nypost.com/seven/04072009/news/politics/forget_white_castle____head_to_the_white_163361.htm

Now here's a bio: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0671980/bio

So take all of that, put on your Sherlock Holmes hat, and think about it for a moment.

I'm not saying he won't do a fabulous job. Of course he will, mainstream media will shine the light on him as the savior to the public for truly opening the White House up. Or wait! Maybe next time President Obama will finally answer the legalization of marijuana questions from the Internet Town Hall meetings after a little pressure from his new Assistant Director and a trip to White Castle.

How Many Cases of MREs Do You Own?

So, you may have came to this post through a search engine, or you may have just happened upon it. Either way, I ask you, "How many cases of MREs do you own?"

WAIT.... I know what you are thinking. You are either:

1) Hording your shelf stable food already and understand the importance of this post.
2) Have no idea why you should have a ready supply of food available.

So let's address this. First, I'd like to start off by saying, I have no vested interest in MREs, companies that manufacture or package components, or the young enlisted folks trying to sell their field rations on eBay.

I could give you a bunch of scientific facts about the economy's bleakness. I could point out that precious metals are reaching an all-time high with no signs of stopping. I could even show you the families in your neighborhood who are being evicted out of their homes. BUT what would that PROVE?

Would it show you that as the dollar is devalued, as we print more money than our country can back with GOLD or even more than our GDP, that items such as FOOD may become unavailable for general purpose.

So what do you do if you are the middle-aged, middle-high income man, who has maybe seen 3 fist fights in his life, gets assaulted by the young, low-income petty-violent criminal who can no longer afford to feed himself because food prices have sky-rocketed. Your home is invaded, your shelves emptied, or even worse, your joy at finding a country store with some cans of beans disappears as the "I found it first" basic courtesy you are accustomed to is laid by the wayside by a mob of stronger, more desperate, no-income (now) people.

I don't know if my rambling is making sense at this point, or if you are even getting it. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm only addressing Scenario 2, because trust me, you need a contingency plan. If you are a member of the better-safe-than-sorry Scenario 1 crowd, keep on going. Do I believe in the total collapse of our economic and government structure in the near future? No. But do I want to be the person who is too late to the show with no secondary plan? Nope.
